Can you briefly tell us who you are and what you do in your daily life?

My name is Davy de Bruin, I’m 23 years old and I live in Nijmegen. I’m currently in the final phase of the HBO-ICT program at HAN University of Applied Sciences, and I previously completed an MBO degree in Application and Media Development. In my free time, I practice playing electric guitar, enjoy watching anime, and read manga. I work out about three times a week and like going to festivals. On Sundays, I usually watch Formula 1 with my father. Alongside my studies, I’ve been working at Albert Heijn for almost six years.

How did you end up at Orange Juice?

Through the HAN Company Market. I started talking with the Orange Juice team, including Chris and Lars, at their stand. As soon as I heard there was an internship assignment focused on AI, I was immediately interested. The combination of the exciting assignment and the company culture at Orange Juice made the decision easy for me.

What do you hope to learn during your internship?

I want to deepen my knowledge of implementing AI within projects and build an AI agent myself. I also want to improve my professional communication skills during meetings and become less perfectionistic, so I can work more efficiently.

What gives you energy in your work or studies?

Social interaction with colleagues, sharing jokes at work, and the moment when something technical works exactly as expected.

What makes you laugh or improves your day?

Good jokes and humor in the office.

Which qualities do you bring as an intern?

I bring a solid technical foundation in development, enjoy thinking along about solutions, and pay close attention to the quality and functionality of code. I’m open to feedback and believe clear communication is important whenever needed.

How would you like to grow after your internship?

I want to focus less on school requirements and dive deeper into the tech stack I’m working with. I’ve done a lot of back-end development, but I’m also interested in front-end work. Ultimately, I’d like to move toward a full-stack role.

What is a fun fact about you that almost nobody knows?

The number 29 shows up surprisingly often in my life: my birthday is May 29, my girlfriend’s is September 29, and we started our relationship on January 29, 2025. I also plan my schedule around Formula 1 weekends, sometimes choose festivals over sleep, and I’m an enthusiastic manga reader.
